About the Artist
L.A. David
L.A. David is one cool burro! A progeny of San Antonio's famed Westside, L.A. David applies an eclectic mix of memory, experience, and vision to create "Arte fo da soul." Inspired by barrio artists in his youth, L.A. discovered his initial love of art through ink and pencil drawing, silk-screen design, and portraiture. Blessed with innate creativity, this self-taught, well-known artist presently uses oils and acrylics in an avant-garde fusion Chicano/a heritage with futuristic themes, such as UFO entities amid Aztec deities. L.A.'s bold and innovative expressions are energized by vivid color, and highlight what many pop art patrons consider "evolution in progress." L.A.'s blend of "home-boy" vernacular with funky, ultra-hip characterization, like his signature "Los Burros y Las Burras series, combines both paradigm and parody. Spiced with a dash of dada, L.A. David's works are creations that inspire, entertain, and amaze the world of pop art. L.A. David is a freelance artist for The Current.
